Catching Up Series: South Africa 6 of 6

The sixth (and turns out… final) installment in the “Catching Up: South Africa” series has been a long while in coming. But suffice I aim to get all of these long ago blog posts moved over here to TravelnLass.

Catching Up on… South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho & Mozambique

(April 9, 2004)
Pecked from: Kruger National Park, South Africa

Lions ‘n Tigers ‘n Bears, Oh My!

Well o.k. no tigers nor bears, but…

FABULOUS LIONS plus tons of giraffes, zebras, elephants, younameit!

Unfortunately I just spent my precious alotted ‘puter time uploading just 3 of the MANY wonderful images of my 6 day Kruger National Park safari, so… don’t have but a moment left to chat.

Suffice that Kruger was all that I’d hoped – indeed, that anyone could hope for. Game drives from morning til night, a night drive (where we startled an elephant and she nearly stampeded the van!), plus a game walk with 2 armed guards – that’s where we came upon the pride of 13 lions – all feasting on a freshly caught wildebeast. Little more than 30 feet away – in an OPEN jeep! Truly wondrous.

And yesterday I made it into Swaziland – a tiny kingdom completely surrounded by South Africa. The scenery here is purely spectacular – truly magical, much like a fantasy land straight out of the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings.

Too much to peck, suffice all is well – splendid sights and experiences to remember for a lifetime.

Love to All…Dyanne

Fast-forward… gosh, could it really be – more than *10* years?:

Alls I can say is… I’m sooooo glad I even half-way documented those amazing 6 weeks of solo wander around a most extraordinary and diverse country.

Check out all in the “Catching Up” South Africa series HERE

(Astonishingly Late!) P.S. (Pecked – amazingly – nearly 20 YEARS since those wondrous days of skipping ’round southern Africa)

Sadly, I never was able to unearth the remaining digital notes of my (many!) adventures solo backpacking further around South Africa – beautiful St. Lucia, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Knysna, Oudtshoorn (where I – foolishly – hopped on the back of an OSTRICH!), Cape Town, et al plus… a most magical visit to the tiny country of Lesotho (nestled in the middle of South Africa). And finally flying east to spend my final 10 days of my marathon 6 week southern Africa odyssey in Mozambique – wiggling toes in the sand at exotic places like… Tofo Beach and the lusciously pristine isles of the coast of Vilankulos.
