A Glimpse of Bali Bliss (redux)

Ummm… I’ve been a bit busy lately and consequently have rather neglected my blather duties here. So I thought I’d meanwhile just quickly plop a little eye-candy for you – a slide show that I created three years ago after my visit to the wondrous isle of Bali in Indonesia.

Technology S-U-C-K-S! (Please pass the Tylenol…)

ACK! Sorry folks, but the sweet slideshow I’d planned to place here (that has happily been working just dandy on slideroll.com) went wacko. ;( Stay tuned while I sort out the damages.

6/16/11 update (a.k.a. this just in from the lad who runs the SlideRoll site):
Uh, turns out the problem is even worse than I thought. It seems the (stupid) SlideRoll site has some (non-existent) fine print that says… after a year if you don’t cough up some bucks to go Pro, your freebie slideshow will go poof!

Actually, what truly torches my toes is that – apparently the slideshow doesn’t go “poof” at all (leastwise my sweet little Bali Bliss show had been fine for nearly 3 years) until… one is foolish enough to make a teeeensy change (in my case, merely changing the auto start and loop) and THEN said slideshow suddenly goes Poof/Wacko!

And none of this nonsense is even remotely spelled out on the site (nowhere/nohow) – I mean, would it have killed them to drop me an email after 1 year to nudge me to go Pro? Heck, I might even have considered it to save my little Bali Bliss show.

Ah but no matter. Mind you, it was a bit of work to build the show (fiddling w/ all those transitions, zooms ‘n such) back 3 years ago. But it’s not as if I don’t still have all my precious Bali pic originals.

So… given my usual penchant for “turning-lemons-into-lemonade” if at all humanly possible, I’m going to use this little techno fiasco to nudge me into learning how to whittle my own slideshow in MS Movie Maker. I’ve been meaning to do such for awhile now (and likewise learn how to create bitty videos), so I may as well start by seeing if I can swiftly re-create the ill-fated Bali Bliss show.

So stay tuned. And meanwhile… I can at least point you to my Flickr Bali Album..
