A Confession Plus a 25¢ Bit of Goodness

The Confession:  Lately I’ve been woefully dragging my digital feet here, neglecting my pecking labors here at TravelnLass. It’s surely not that I don’t have plenty more pics and travel tales to tell, but after – what? nearly *5 years* and churning out more than THREE HUNDRED posts here week, after week, after week… I seem to be in a literary lull. The muse seems to have left the building, I’ve lost my scribbling mojo – just can’t seem to drag my sorry butt to the keyboard to share.

Pigmy elephant in Malaysian BornewDon’t get me wrong, this blog has become very dear to me over the years. It’s a precious diary of my (ever so many!) adventures all over the world, and I’m truly grateful to have inspired a few fellow lasses “of a certain age” to follow in my footsteps. And I still have at least 2 or 3 more Myanmar tales to tell (Bagan, the Train-Ride-from-Hell, Mandalay and my lovely adventures in Hsipaw), not to mention some truly spectacular pics (and even video!) of my (seriously delayed, but nonetheless most memorable) romp in Borneo (I mean, can you spell PIGMY-ELEPHANTS!?)

But what can I say? Just can’t seem to cough up the mots here lately, plus I’ve also been busily researching my brains out for my upcoming trip to “The Forbidden Land” – CUBA (in yikes – just *10 days*!!!)

The Goodness:  Thus, I’ve been feeling a tad guilty here that my loyal TL followers might well be wondering if the TravelnLass hasn’t stumbled head-first into some black hole. So I just thought I’d at least drop a verrry quick nonsense post. Just a delectable pic to illustrate what I’m up against here amid the cobbled streets of my new adopted home. My struggle with keeping my belly trim here in Cuenca – where tiny neighborhood bakeries tempt me at verily every turn.

I mean, for a mere “veinticinco” centavos, what’s a girl to do?

Cuenca bakery treat

Seriously. For but a quarter – how can one possibly resist such temptations?

And though I can’t make any promises (not to mention I shall soon be skipping ’round Cuba where any digital juice at ALL will likely be close to zip), do stay tuned for further tales here – if a tad less frequently.

My number of posts vary as our trips come and go. I don’t want to write about the 114th parade to pass my apartment, so finding something new means sometimes only 2 or 3 posts a month — and other times daily while we are on the road.

One thought for Cuba. Even if you can’t get online, you could write your daily posts locally on your computer/tablet. When you get back to where internet is legal again, you could then easily upload them one-a-day, without having to remember what happened “last Tuesday.”

We went to Cuba about 10 years ago. Fascinating island. I hear that they actually allowed internet cafes to start up within the last year. I think “The Change” is now coming soon…

Feeling in a bit of a writing slump myself. Maybe our muses met on line and are off seeing the world together without us — or something. I hope yours returns in time to join you for your trip to Cuba. I want to read about it!
