Did I Mention That I love, Love, LOVE my Moo Cards?

Seriously.  I’ve said it before (HERE) nearly two years ago, but it bears repeating. It’s been great fun handing my pint-sized MOO cards out to stray fellow travelers I meet along the trail, as well as to new local friends I’ve made  in countries I’ve visited.

Instead of rummaging for a pen (that works) while I’m on a rickety bus (or camel) and scribbling down a smudged email addy on some spare snippet of paper (boarding pass stubs are no stranger to such exchanges), I can ensure that at least one of us has a readable (and most spiffy) reminder of our meet up (with my name, email addy and blog url on the back), so we can later keep in touch and follow each others journeys.  I also opted to add one of my favorite travel inspiration quotes to the “business” side of each card:

Along with… the universal happy-face “peace” sign – for those who’s first language might not be English.

And the very best part of the moo cards is that each one has a different image from my travels and folks love to sift through them to choose their favorite pic.  It’s great fun to watch them hem ‘n haw over which one they want to take.  Some love the wildlife (a fine elephant shot I took while on safari at Kruger NP in South Africa, a pair of vivid blue parrots in Costa Rica, and a jaguar in Belize), while others dither between photos of places they’ve visited and those they hope to get to.

In short, the cards themselves tend to create a tiny memorable tet-a-tet with strangers, and the contact info on the back can lead to lasting friendships.

I ordered 200 cards back in Seattle before I moved here to Asia – 2 packs at just $20/100 – that’s just 20 cents each, and…

I could have opted for 200 different photos of my travels, but instead used just 40 from 15 different countries (including night pics of the Seattle skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge to represent my native land), so I have 5 prints of each image in my MiniMoo card stash.

Even kewler – each card is just half the size of a standard business card (little more than 1″ x 3″), printed on extra sturdy cardstock (we travelers are nothing if not ruthlessly rough on our travel gear), and…  I also opted to order a wee case for my MiniMoos that holds about 10 cards at a go, and I can hang it from my pack for easy access (whilst on that rickety bus/camel).

O.k. so yes, I guess you could say I’m WILD about these cards, and furthermore by now you’re wondering if this isn’t some sort of new TL infomercial.

Truth is… I AM totally sold on these sweet cards – indeed, I get ohs ‘n ahs whenever I pull them out on the trail.

I just figure, why not?  I’d never in a million years ever DREAM of heaping praise on some stray trinket in exchange for a few paltry rubles.  But these honeys truly are a most fun and useful addition to any travelers backpack.
