Random Photo Memory: Belizean Angelfish

Though I’ve seen all manner of glorious undersea wonders (both snorkeling, as well as descending via SCUBA to 160 ft. within Belize’s legendary “Blue Hole” (where I might add, there lies a most amazing and eerie array of stalactites alas devoid of all color at such breathtaking depths), I’ve only once owned the techno camera equipment to visually share the experience.

But at one point I had a most nifty (film) point and shoot, that was actually water-tight down to 15 ft., and thus was able to snap a few images such as this Blue-gray Angelfish.  Then again… it took another two decades for today’s digital graphics software to catch up – so that I could tweak the (otherwise uniformly blueish) image into what you see below.

(btw, this pic was especially selected as my weekly WW post, to celebrate my most recent foray into the deep blue sea:  just this week, I braved the depths at Julian Rocks in Byron Bay here in Oz, and SWAM WITH A SEA TURTLE! Alas, no pics but the encounter was quite thrilling.)

You can.
You will.
It is gonna be FANTASTC!

(pecked whilst on a bus whizzing down, err… No, make that UP the spectacular “Gold Coast” of Oz.)

I love snorkeling too! But haven’t bothered taking photos as so many people have done so professionally… I’ve heard great things about Belize. On my list of places to go!

Yes James, Belize is truly a gem. I oughtta know, I spent 20 years running trips there.

Indeed, though I’ve not technically snorkeled Australia’s Great Barrir Reef, from what I saw on mt snorkel trip at Byron Bay, Belize’s reef is lots better. No doubt it depends on where you go here, but Belize has the world’s 2nd longest barrier ref that runs down the entire country!
